Welding rods, also known as Shielded Metal Arc Welding or SMAW, were once the most common form of welding. Additional metals such as TIG are also used. But not exactly that. MIG or “Metal Inert Gas” (also known as “Gas Metal Arc Welding” or GMAW) welding also uses screens and gas charges. In this case, however, the load is a wire that passes directly through a welder. This makes it a one-handed process. This allows you to leave the other side free to handle other materials and tools. MIG welding is faster than most other welding methods. It's not as accurate as TIG, but it's still relatively clean. It is also much easier to learn and can be a great place to start learning.

MIG will be the type of direct welding for most body repairs. It works best because it is suitable for many types of metals and suitable for quick repairs. It can handle a wider range of thicknesses than TIG or Stick. MIG can manipulate the materials used in the body without losing strength or looking clean.

The new MIG welding machines also have many options to easily avoid deformation. It is also one of the easiest processes to learn. For experienced veterans and new welders, this is the best choice for auto repair. MIG welders are by far the beginners in welding technology because of their simplicity and ease of use.

What type of tools do you need?
